Are you looking for a comfortable place to stay after a long day’s search for mountain gorillas in Buhoma sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park? Silverback Lodge is your place to be because you are guaranteed of unwinding and relishing the wooded highland of south-western Uganda while watching sunset.

This sumptuous Eco-Lodge is one of the newest additions by “Marasa Africa” and is one of the easiest to access bases for mountain gorilla trekking tours in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. It is only 5-minutes’ walk to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and boasts of verdant sweeping views of the huge Valley as well as the dense forest that surrounds it. It is nestled on high top of the verdant Valley overlooking the beautiful Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Rooms and amenities at Silverback Lodge

Silverback Lodge features 12 rooms, making it the largest Forest Lodge in Buhoma sector in addition to offering the highest-value place of stay in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This is surprisingly done by keeping the unmatched standards of hospitality and comfort, synonymous with Marasa Africa.

Each of the rooms here were constructed with local raw materials like purple slate stone, forest vines and sisal ropes in addition to featuring en-suite bathrooms with cold/hot showers and clean bathrobe/towel, comfortable bed, private balcony/veranda with comfy chairs for unwinding while enjoying views of the forest and Valley, sitting area, to mention but a few. There are seven Twin Rooms, four Double Rooms and one single room.

The Single room is about 15 square meters and boasts of excellent mountain views, one twin bed, ceiling fan and cleaning linen in the bedroom, private bathroom with shower, free toiletries, hair dryer and shower/bath.

The Twin room is 25 square meters with one queen or two twin beds, free internet connection, beautiful mountain views, en-suite bathroom with shower, free toiletries and hair dryer among others.

Besides the in-room amenities, other facilities that guests will find at Silverback Lodge are a small but fully-stocked bar, a dining area, free Wi-Fi connection around the property, business center and a spa.

Range of activities enjoyed by Silverback Lodge guests

Birding tours are possible at the comfort of your room, owing to the green and beautiful tropical gardens with lots of colorful feathered beauties. Interestingly primate watching is possible on a lucky day because the Lodge is sometimes visited by some primate species. Travellers can enjoy cocktail with family and friends from the comfort of the summit Bar. Additionally, there are chances of enjoying guided forest walks, the Batwa Cultural Experience and mountain cycling tours organized by Ride-for-a woman biking project while staying at Silverback Lodge.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site covering a total area of 124 square miles and is haven to about 459 mountain gorillas, making it about almost fifty percent of the World’s total mountain gorillas. There are 120 mammal species in total that also include non-habituated chimpanzees, forest elephants, Olive baboons, blue monkeys and many others, in addition to about 350 bird species as well as about 200 species of butterflies.
