Spending overnights in Canvas is one of the most refreshing and rewarding things to do during your safari in Uganda. Sounds of chirping birds, cool breezes, the blow of wind and sweet smell of rain on the ground is what your safari is about but staying in tents with thick-thatched roofs plus en-suite bathrooms as well as running water will make your experience worthwhile.

Number of rooms and amenities at Semliki Safari Lodge

The Lodge is made of stone, wood and thatched building area and 8 Safari Tents, accommodating a maximum of 18 guests. The only family tent is capable of accommodating three to four guests, while the three double tents can each accommodate two guests and the four twin tents can each accommodate two visitors.

These tents have Persian carpets, four poster beds, en-suite bathrooms with running water and cold/warm shower, flush toilets, coffee/tea making facilities, small veranda where guests relax or drink while relishing views of the remote African wilderness and woodland.

There is a main lodge area with its high-thatched roof for evening get-togethers around huge tables for unwinding on comfortable arm chairs or sofas while interacting and telling wilderness stories. Free internet connection, laundry services, a central fireplace at main building, free 24-hour parking and swimming pool are offered at Semliki National Park.

There is a spacious dining area with palatial seating as well as breathtaking views and exceptional traditional art. Additionally, there is a patio bar with cool shared lounge as well as magnificent forest views, thus ideal for spending a lazy afternoon.

Activities enjoyed by visitors of Semliki Safari Lodge

While you stay at the Lodge, you can step out for a walk in the wild, made easy by the miles of hiking trails criss-crossing the riverine forest or savannah plains.

Guests can also go chimpanzee trekking within Semliki National Park and this is organized under the “Semliki Chimpanzee Research Project” where travellers can interact with the chimpanzee researchers. Here, guests learn about the evolution and habituation of these Great Apes.

Additionally, there is a chance of watching more than 50 of the 441 bird species in Semliki National Park but travellers can also undertake boat trips on Lake Albert, undertake walking safaris and night nature walks while staying at Semliki Safari Lodge. Here, forest and wildlife species such as buffaloes, elephants, chimpanzees, warthogs, L’Hoests monkeys, leopards, leopards, duikers, Hippos and others will be seen.

Semliki Safari Lodge is found in western Uganda, about 5 hours’ drive from the Capital and only 3 hours’ drive from Queen Elizabeth National Park. For travellers connecting from Fort Portal Town, the accommodation facility is just one hour’s drive.
